Voussoir
Brian Lalor Retrospective, Prints 1980 - 2010

Voussoir is the first retrospective of the contemporary printmaker and celebrated author Brian Lalor and the most comprehensive presentation of his fine art prints to date.

This landmark exhibition features key works spanning three decades including those in public collections and which portray a wide variety of printmaking techniques including etchings, mezzotints, woodcuts and linocuts. On view are Lalor's early works previously unseen as they were mainly exhibited abroad, his main topographical works of Dublin City, Cork, Rome and Jerusalem, domestic scenes and prints from his published books such as The Ballad of Reading Gaol. As the artist states 'The urban landscape is a major theme of my work and the growth of settlements has created structures that reflect the pattern of human life, visible in the countryside, in towns and in cities'.

Brian Lalor studied at the Crawford School of Art, Cork, Hammersmith College of Art and Design, London and with the Hebrew University, Jerusalem. Lalor has had over twenty solo international exhibitions. He is an award-winning author of books on travel and architecture and in 2005 he donated a significant collection of his prints to the Department of Prints and Drawings, National Library of Ireland.
