Sponsors' Portfolio Exhibition - 50 Years
1962 - 2012

Graphic Studio Gallery welcomes Jimmy Deenihan Minister for Arts, Heritage and Gaeltacht Affairs to launch 'Sponsors' Portfolio Exhibition - 50 years, 1962 - 2012' on Thursday 9th February. In 1962 Graphic Studio Dublin launched Sponsors' Portfolios containing art and literature by members, writers and artists from Ireland and internationally, featuring work by Anne Yeats, Elizabeth Rivers, Patrick Hickey, Norah McGuinness and John Kelly among others. They ran from 1962-1979 and helped fund the studio alongside its Arts Council Grant.

In keeping with our long tradition of combining art and literature, the Sponsors' Portfolio was re-launched in 2010 to as part of Graphic Studio Dublin's 50th anniversary. For each portfolio we commission one writer, an invited visual artist and three members from the studio to produce a unique piece of work and a portfolio will be published annually for the next 10 years (2010-2019).

This exhibition celebrates the three most recent Sponsors' Portfolios, commissioning work by the following artists and writers: Jean Bardon, Carmel Benson, Caroline Donohue, Theo Dorgan, Roddy Doyle, Martin Gale RHA, Thomas Kinsella, Jennifer Lane, Stephen Lawlor, Louise Leonard, Kelvin Mann, Seán McSweeney, Niall Naessens, Donald Teskey RHA and Marta Wakula-Mac. Framed works by John Kelly, Nora McGuinness and Anne Yeats from earlier Sponsors' Portfolios shall also be on view.

The launch will start at 3pm with a talk and demonstration by artist Louise Leonard. At 6pm Roddy Doyle will read 'Ultramarine' followed by a readings of 'Journey' by Theo Dorgan. At 6.30pm Minister Jimmy Deenihan will launch the exhibition.
