Near & Far
Deirdre McCrory & Catherine Thompson

Graphic Studio Gallery is delighted to host a joint exhibition between two Northern Ireland female artists from Seacourt Print Workshop, Co Down. Deirdre McCrory and Catherine Thompson have been collaborating on their show entitled Near & Far.

Their work explores the delicate imagery of their surrounding landscape. The softness of McCrory's work and the bold lines of Thompson's ensure the viewer experiences the scenery on multiple levels.

This new body of work joins the delicacy of the landscape these women experience and interpret with their own unique styles.

This series uses an array of techniques from etching, collagraph, lino relief, mixed media, carborundum, lithograph and photoetching.

Students together at Belfast College of Art, with a background in printed textiles, they share an appreciation for design, pattern and colour. Catherine, a printmaker and painter, and Deirdre, a printmaker and enameller, are passionate about developing their work, exploring image-making beyond the purely representational. Taking inspiration from nature and the surrounding environment, they have exhibited in both solo and group shows, nationally and internationally.
