Sophia O'Sullivan

Sophia O’Sullivan is an abstract printmaker and visual artist based in Dublin. A graduate of the National College of Art and Design with honours, she is a long-standing member of Graphic Studio Dublin. Her work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally, including at Woolwich Contemporary London, Graphic Studio Gallery Dublin, the RHA, RUA Belfast, Outset Gallery Galway, Studio 10, and IMMA. In 2023, she was awarded The Stop Showcase Award by Outset Gallery.

O’Sullivan’s practice centres on themes of transience and continuity, drawing inspiration from place, nature, and lived experience. Her atmospheric prints interpret fleeting internal and external moments, exploring sensory perception, memory, belonging, and the layered nature of the experienced world. Working primarily with multi-plate etching, she embraces a cyclical and intuitive process of layering, reworking, and reduction. This physical engagement with materials allows her to evoke the subtle weight and wonder of passing moments, where presence and absence intersect.
